Christians Carrying Trauma Don’t Need to Try Harder– They Need Healing
Trauma-informed Christian counseling for those who feel emotionally numb, disconnected from God, or stuck in survival mode – even though life looks “fine” on the outside.
You can believe in God and still need help healing what hurt you.
This practice is especially for christians who:
- Feel emotionally shut down, irritable, or distant in relationships
- Carry anger, grief, or shame they don’t know how to process
- Are tired of “praying it away” without real change
- Love God but feel disconnected, dry, or exhausted spiritually
- Have trauma from childhood, marriage, ministry, or church culture
- Are high-functioning on the outside but struggle internally
If this sounds familiar, you’re not broken – your nervous system learned how to survive.
The Core Problem and Processing Pain
Many Christians were taught to be strong, faithful, and self-controlled – but not how to process pain.
So instead of healing, you may have learned to:
- Suppress emotions
- Minimize your story
- Push through exhaustion
- Use faith to silence pain rather than transform it
- Simply get angry
This is often called spiritual bypassing – when spiritual language is used to avoid God’s tangible provision of methods for emotional and bodily healing.
The result?
- Emotional numbness
- Disconnection from loved ones
- Chronic stress or anxiety
- A Faith that feels like duty
What Makes My Work Different?
- Trauma-informed, not behavior focused
- Faith-integrated, not faith-pressured
- Emotionally honest, not performative
- Designed specifically for Christians
You don’t need to be “more spiritual.” You need space, safety, and skilled guidance.
Meet Your Licensed Professional Counselor
Efrain Rodriguez, LPC, ART, EMDR-T
I’m a Christian who wants to help other high-functioning but emotionally disconnected Christians break out of emotional shutdown caused by unresolved trauma–without losing their faith!
I’ve been counseling for over 30 years and use EMDR, ART, and FLASH Technique to help in this regard.
Healing doesn’t require abandoning your faith.
It means learning how to experience God inside your pain, not around it. Jesus did not bypass grief, fear, anger, or suffering– and you don’t have to, either.
Techniques support the work – but transformation is the goal.
How I Help as a Specialist
At Primacy Counseling, I specialize in trauma-informed Christian therapy. Our work focuses on:
- Healing trauma stored in the nervous system
- Reconnecting emotions safely and at your pace
- Integrating faith without spiritual pressure or bypassing
- Helping Christians move out of survival mode and into connection
I use evidence-based trauma approaches (EMDR, ART) alongside a Christian understanding of meaning, identity, and restoration.
