Quality PTSD Counseling and Support

Trauma comes in all shapes and sizes. For some, that means lingering in your mind and emotional centers – even when you have put your life in the hands of God. Without PTSD support, you can often feel an emotional detachment from the world and spiritual confusion.

At Primacy Counseling, I address the whole person, offering Christian-based therapy near me through trauma-informed practices grounded in faith. Whether you’re in Corinth, Flower Mound, Highland Village or the many areas around Texas, I am here to help.

PTSD affects many people. You are not alone, and I can help.

What is PTSD?

About 13 million Americans have PTSD in any given year. Posttraumatic stress disorder is such a complex and challenging condition that even the military recognizes it as a serious medical issue–one that could have resulted from a single moment in childhood or a lengthy exposure to violence, abuse, or neglect.

PTSD doesn’t just impact our military veterans. It affects just as many first responders, violence survivors, and even those facing traumatic losses. What could be completely invisible on the outside could be a raging storm on the inside.

Common Symptoms of PTSD

Every person has his or her own mix of PTSD symptoms. As trauma specialists, it is our role to use these symptoms as guide markers in crafting a journey toward healing through Christian-based therapy. Some common symptoms include:

  • Intrusive memories that cause flashbacks or nightmares.
  • Avoiding the people, places, and conversations in your life related to the trauma.
  • Constant hypervigilance that stresses your mind and body.
  • Sleep troubles or a lack of concentration.
  • Strong emotional numbness leading to irritability or outbursts.
  • A deep sense of shame or guilt.
  • Feeling abandoned by God or being distanced from your faith community.

If you recognize some or even a few of these symptoms, I strongly encourage you to reach out for our faith-based counseling as soon as possible.

Who I Help

My counseling is tailored especially to Christians. I offer individual counseling as well as Men’s groups for added support. My clients include many from the faith communities of Texas, including those with:

  • Childhood abuse
  • Military, first responder, and law enforcement backgrounds
  • Traumatic memories impacting marriage health
  • Medical or near-death trauma
  • Spiritual wounds or crises of faith
  • Grief from betrayal or loss

I frequently work with individuals who searched for “Christian-based therapy near me” and want a healing journey more aligned with their convictions while accessing evidence-based practices for post-traumatic stress disorder.

EMDR and ART: Proven Methods for PTSD Treatment

While I use a blend of modern and faith-based counseling for those who need PTSD therapy, I highly recommend EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy). These structured approaches help your brain reprocess trauma or negative events, reducing their emotional intensity to trigger the brain’s natural healing ability and allow you space to regain control.

You do not have to re-live details you’re not ready to face. My faith-based counseling is trauma-informed, meaning I look to reframe your relationship with past experiences – breaking free from the cycle of PTSD in your mind, body, and spirit.
