Therapy for Depression

Pretending everything is okay while feeling lost and full of doubt is unhealthy. You don’t have to pretend anymore. The percentage of US adults reporting symptoms of depression is at an all-time high, with nearly 29% of the population experiencing it at some point in their lives.

Between social media, medical conditions, challenges at home and work, and faith-filled questions, depression can become a slow burn that impacts all areas of your life.

Primacy Counseling offers compassionate, Christ-centered depression therapy and counseling. Whether that is ongoing sadness that lowers your motivation, extreme burnout from trying too hard for too long, or emotional numbness that threatens your peace and grace, I can help.

What Depression Really Looks Like

Depression shows up in unique ways to each individual. What may feel like a mountain of sadness to one could be a significant loss of interest to another. It can appear as:

  • Hopelessness or emotional numbness from persistent sadness.
  • Fatigue and lack of motivation leads to sleep issues.
  • Irritability with or a disconnection to your loved ones.
  • Loss of interest in anything that once may have mattered a great deal.
  • Spiritual “dryness” or guilt and shame that feel unshakable.
  • Massive changes in your appetite or weight.
  • Difficulty concentrating on the critical decisions in your life.
  • Overwhelming feelings of worthlessness or guilt.

Depression can also lead to thoughts or feelings of self-harm. If you, or anyone you know, is at a point where you feel self-harm is the only way to release the pressure of depression, immediately call 911 or 988 for assistance.

How I Help

Counseling for depression involves a blend of clinically effective and spiritually supported solutions. I use different practices, like addressing trauma-informed emotional wounds or reframing prayer and reflection, that root you in a different pathway.

I also provide EMDR, FLASH, and ART therapies. These evidence-based therapies help you reprocess trauma and reduce your depression level.

Whether your depression stems from grief, chronic stress, past trauma, or uncertainty about your purpose, Christian-based therapy addresses your unique story and personal journey.

It is important to remember that your depression is not a weakness. Faith doesn’t make you immune to depression. I want to honor your spiritual beliefs while helping you reconnect to the world around you through truth and grace.

Find the Light You Need to Move Forward

Depression counseling helps you find an objective perspective. It involves helping you build a support system and encourages you to engage in activities you enjoy so you can turn your worries into prayer and action.
